Matchbox 2016 A Case

With news that Mattel had reduced sealed case sizes on Matchbox 2016 assortments from 36 cars to 24 cars, and case unboxing reports showing a lack of repeated models between the case codes, I got worried that finding the models I was after was either going to leave me with many unwanted models due to the requirement of getting a sealed case, or make my average purchase price really high due to "popular model surge pricing". Thankfully my fears for at least the A case were put aside, after finding the cars locally.

Walking into my small local Warehouse store, I glanced at the very small Matchbox section and noticed one of the cars I was after from the 2016 case, quickly followed by another. Despite assistance from a store worker I know, I wasn't able to find any further 2016 models I was after.

After multiple attempts at trying to locate more 2016 at the larger stores, I was unsuccessful for a few weeks until I stumbled across a single 2016 model in the Hot Wheels dump bin. I then began another search of the store and managed to spy up on the overstock shelves enough of a case box to know I hadn't missed out. After getting some assistance from store workers to get down a couple of cases and was able to walk away with the A case items from my wishlist.

With Matchbox B and C cases already out in the USA, fingers crossed that local stores order in these cases quickly - and then actually put them on the shop floor to sell to customers rather than hiding them away on overstock (especially when the pegs are near empty!!)
